Building a Community’s Capacity to Nurture  
Healthy Moms and Babies 
A “Train the Trainer” event to prepare community members to improve the health of our most vulnerable population, instructed by: 
Jack Turman, Jr. PhD 
Dean, College of Health and Human Services 
Indiana State University 
 
Dr. Turman was the founder of the University of Southern 
California “Center for Premature Infant Health and Development” and also developed the University of Nebraska Medi-
cal Center’s “The Connections Project” to optimize birth and infant development outcomes in the Omaha area. 
 
This ten-hour training opportunity will be held over two Saturdays:  
August 8th and 15th – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm 
At Spencer First Church of the Nazarene 
126 E. Market St., Spencer, Indiana 
 
With Lunch and Refreshments provided. 
All medical and mental health practitioners, youth counselors, educators, and faith-based community members are encouraged to attend.
